At Rumah Zakat's Public Expose, Ministry of Religious Affairs Urges LAZ to Focus on Eradicating Poverty

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) considers Rumah Zakat one of the National Zakat Amil Institutions (LAZ) that consistently provides accountability reports and is transparent in reporting its performance to the public. Kemenag also requests and advises all LAZ to focus more on efforts to eradicate poverty. “As far as I know, Rumah Zakat is one of the National Zakat Amil Institutions that is very close to us, and we often receive their reports. Public exposes like this are not the first,” said the Director of Zakat and Waqf Empowerment (Ditzawa) of Kemenag, Waryono Abdul Ghofur, to Republika at the Public Expose: Impact in Action 2026 event held by Rumah Zakat at Hotel Sultan on Wednesday (8/4/2026). He assessed that organising public exposes is one form of social accountability to society. He also encouraged other LAZ to carry out similar practices. “And this is indeed one form of social accountability to society. I encourage other LAZ to do this (public expose) as well,” he stated. With such transparency, Waryono hopes that public trust in zakat institutions (LAZ) will increase, especially regarding the distribution of funds from muzakki to beneficiaries so that they are channelled properly. On the other hand, he also reminded that efforts to eradicate poverty are still a task that needs to be strengthened by all zakat institutions.
