At PERSIS XIV Congress Opening, Police Chief Urges Unity to Face Global Conditions
Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo delivered a message at the opening of the XIV Congress of Pemuda Persatuan Islam (PERSIS). General Sigit highlighted the uncertain global situation that Indonesia must face in the future.
This was conveyed by General Sigit at the Opening Ceremony of the XIV Congress at the Sutan Raja Hotel, Soreang, Bandung Regency, West Java, on Saturday (25/4/2026). Attendees included Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia Atip Latipulhayat, General Chairman of PP PERSIS Jeje Zaenudin, General Chairman of PP Pemuda Persis Ibrahim Nasrulhaq Al Fahmi, and members of the Indonesian House of Representatives serving as Chairman of the PERSIS Scholars Forum, M Hoerudin Amin.
“Alhamdulillah, as time progresses, the Indonesian National Police increasingly feels that PERSIS and the Police are part of a large family that is growing closer, more harmonious, and inseparable. Thank you to everyone,” said General Sigit at the start of his speech.
He spotlighted the global geopolitical conditions that Indonesia must anticipate. General Sigit urged all parties to unite in facing global challenges.
“We all face various challenges ahead, and this is a call to jihad for the PERSIS youth going forward to address the existing situations and challenges. The global situations and fluctuations certainly require us all to unite our steps and ranks to collectively face the global situations and challenges,” said General Sigit.
Sigit mentioned that the global condition is still marked by conflicts between the United States-Israel and Iran. He alluded to Indonesia’s stance in implementing a free and active policy to create peace in the world.
“We all feel that we are still continuously facing a global condition marked by conflicts in the Middle East. Some time ago, Indonesia tried to help resolve the conflict occurring in Palestine and Israel. Indonesia, of course, wants to implement a free and active policy to directly intervene and participate in creating peace, especially supporting and encouraging Palestine to achieve independence quickly,” he added.
The Police Chief then highlighted that the Middle East conflict impacts commodity prices in Indonesia. Nevertheless, he stressed that the government is committed to not raising prices for subsidised fuel oil (BBM) and LPG.
“Certain stocks are inevitably affected, especially those relying on non-subsidised fuel, so their prices are also impacted. Although, alhamdulillah, the government announced some time ago that until the end of the year, for subsidised items, both BBM and LPG, they will remain subsidised,” he said.
According to him, the steps taken by the government aim to maintain optimism in society. General Sigit also mentioned that Indonesia is anticipating the impact of the Middle East conflict if it continues in the future.
“This is certainly something we maintain as part of our optimism in facing the existing conditions and situations. However, on the other hand, we must also prepare by taking various measures and efforts to end this conflict soon, so that its impact can truly reduce the burden experienced by various countries, including Indonesia,” he stated.
