At Peradah's National Working Conference, Gibran highlights demographic bonus and AI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has urged the younger generation, including the extended Perhimpunan Pemuda Hindu (Peradah), to seize the moment of the demographic dividend and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in a wise manner to enhance the nation’s capacity and competitiveness.
The remarks were made by the Vice President when he attended the XIII National Working Conference of the National Leadership Council of Peradah at Pura Aditya Rawamangun, East Jakarta, on Friday afternoon.
‘Indonesia is currently heading towards the peak of the demographic dividend in 2040-2045, when the majority of the population will be of productive age,’ he said in a statement from the Secretariat of the Vice President.
According to the statement, this aligns with Astacita’s fourth mission of President Prabowo Subianto on strengthening human resources development (SDM), science, and technology.
‘So this is our opportunity, our strength, at a time when many other countries are experiencing population crises,’ the Vice President said.
According to the Vice President, the condition represents a strategic opportunity for Indonesia to push for increased national productivity.
Gibran then urged youths to strengthen character, enhance competencies, and expand involvement in development.
In addition, amid the rapid technological disruption of today, Gibran reminded of the importance of using AI wisely and responsibly.
‘I always emphasise, do not become overly dependent on AI. Critical thinking is important. Problem-solving ability is important, and the most important thing we stress is how to think in a computational way. Use AI responsibly and in accordance with ethics,’ he said.
With the spirit of youth leadership, the Vice President hopes Peradah can synergise with the government in leveraging the demographic dividend momentum and AI disruption as a force towards Indonesia Emas.
Welcoming the Vice President’s guidance, Peradah Indonesia’s DPN Chair I Putu Yoga Saputra stressed Peradah’s commitment to supporting various government programmes that are oriented towards the people’s interests.
‘As long as the programmes are for the people, then Mr President and the ranks should not be afraid, keep going, sir,’ Yoga said.
On the occasion, the Vice President also witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the Peradah DPN leadership for the 2025-2028 period.
Attending the event were, among others, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development Isyana Bagoes Oka, Director General of Hindu Affairs (Bimas Hindu) at the Religious Affairs Ministry I Nengah Duija, Treasurer of Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia Made Sumadiartaha, and the Chairwoman of Hindu Dharma Indonesia Women’s Association Wikanti Yogi.
