Perum BULOG has conveyed its commitment to achieving sustainable food self-sufficiency at the peak event of the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS) in 2026, held at the David-Toni Sports Centre in Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency. PENAS XVII 2026 serves as a forum bringing together farmers, fishermen, extension workers, business actors, academics, and various food sector stakeholders from across Indonesia. This activity is a momentum to strengthen collaboration in driving the transformation of the agriculture and fisheries sectors to realise national food security. In his address, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stressed that food security is the main foundation of national sovereignty that must be continuously strengthened through the joint efforts of all elements of the nation. “We must be brave enough to see and correct our own shortcomings. My team and I are fully committed to stopping the plundering of state wealth so that it can be fully utilised for the people’s welfare,” said Prabowo in a written statement on Wednesday (24/6/2026). Meanwhile, President Director of Perum BULOG, retired TNI Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that PENAS 2026 is a momentum to strengthen synergy among all food sector actors in supporting the major agenda of sustainable food self-sufficiency. “PENAS 2026 is a momentum to strengthen synergy among all Indonesian food sector actors. BULOG is ready to carry out its strategic role in maintaining food availability, optimally absorbing farmers’ produce, and strengthening Government Food Reserves to support the realisation of sustainable food self-sufficiency,” said Ahmad Rizal. He affirmed that BULOG will continue to strengthen various strategic programmes, from absorbing farmers’ harvests and managing government food reserves to implementing supply and food price stabilisation. These measures are part of BULOG’s efforts to safeguard national food security while improving the welfare of farmers and the community. Through its participation in PENAS XVII 2026, BULOG also affirmed its commitment to serving as a government instrument in maintaining food stability, strengthening the welfare of farmers and fishermen, and supporting the realisation of sustainable food self-sufficiency for national food security.
