At DPRD Chair Retreat, Prabowo: I Want to Speak Frankly, Some Might Be Offended
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto wants to speak openly and straightforwardly to the DPRD chairs from all over Indonesia during the retreat in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday (18/4/2026).
“As a son of the nation, today I want to speak heart to heart. I want to speak frankly; perhaps if I speak later, some might find it unpleasant, some might be offended, some might be saddened,” Prabowo stated, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube on Saturday.
He admitted that he was once advised to have his attendance at the retreat represented by someone else. However, he chose to come in person because he considers the forum important.
He reminded that the participants come from various regions, ethnic groups, educational backgrounds, to political affiliations. Despite the differences, he invited all parties to see the commonality as patriots who love the homeland.
According to Prabowo, candour is needed if all parties have the same intention, namely to serve the nation.
He also assumed that this spirit is possessed by the participants, so he feels the need to convey his views honestly.
“Sorry, journalists, because there are problems in the world right now,” he said.
