Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed Indonesia's readiness to deploy at least 8,000 troops to participate in a peacekeeping mission in Gaza, Palestine, by joining the International Stabilisation Force (ISF).

The announcement was made by Prabowo at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP), attended by United States President Donald Trump and other world leaders in Washington DC on Thursday local time.

"The achievement of this ceasefire is real. We commend it, and therefore we reaffirm our commitment to contributing a significant number of troops — up to 8,000 personnel or more if required," President Prabowo said, in a live broadcast on the White House's official account, viewed from Jakarta in the early hours of Friday.

The President declared his readiness to mobilise thousands of personnel to play an active role in the ISF international stabilisation force.

In his address at the forum, Prabowo stated that Indonesia had from the outset studied and fully supported the peace plan initiated by US President Donald Trump.

Prabowo also emphasised that Indonesia's purpose in joining the BoP was to advance peace in Gaza, Palestine.

"Indonesia fully agrees with and is entirely committed to this plan. That is why we have joined the Board of Peace. We are committed to its success. We know there will be many obstacles and difficulties, but we are very optimistic," Prabowo stressed.

According to an official statement, President Prabowo's attendance at the inaugural BoP meeting underscored Indonesia's commitment to playing an active role in establishing and strengthening the Board of Peace framework as a transitional international mechanism based on the mandate of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025).

Indonesia declared its readiness to participate actively through the ISF with a clear mandate, agreed operational parameters, and in alignment with international law and Indonesia's national caveats.

Indonesia also supports long-term reconstruction and stabilisation in Gaza whilst respecting the rights of the Palestinian people and the vision of the Two-State Solution.
