Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa visited the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) today, Monday (27/4/2026). His visit was to attend the inauguration of the Planned and Periodic Investment Programme (PINTAR) for Mutual Funds organised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). During the event, Purbaya delivered a keynote speech, alongside the OJK Commissioner Chair and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto. Initially, he read from the text prepared by his subordinates to deliver the keynote. However, he suddenly stopped, deeming the content in the text boring. “Deepening the national financial market is an absolute necessity and non-negotiable. Bored, aren’t we? Feel free now,” said Purbaya. It is known that Purbaya spoke after OJK Commissioner Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi. Prior to that, there had also been a panel discussion on the financial market. The statement appeared to emerge after Purbaya observed the attending guests seeming bored with the overly abundant material. Therefore, instead of reading the stiffly worded text, Purbaya chose to improvise on the existing topics. This is not the first time Purbaya has done this. After no longer reading the text, he mentioned that the term market deepening has been heard by him since two decades ago. However, in reality, it has not been realised, causing the stock market to often fluctuate during global economic pressures. “I’ve heard the term capital market deepening since 2000, and until now it’s not deep. Maybe we’re using the wrong hoe, not digging deep enough. So now the PINTAR Programme (Planned and Periodic Investment Programme) is being created. I don’t know if this will be good or not,” said Purbaya. Therefore, the government, he said, has taken its own steps to strengthen the deepening of Indonesia’s financial and stock markets. One of them is by maintaining a solid economic foundation that can continue to grow rapidly over time. “We are designing faster economic growth, even faster, and we are serious about it,” explained Purbaya. To accelerate growth to an average target of 8% by the end of President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership period in 2029, he said the government will hasten the development agenda, so that the market can also strengthen. “So if previously the economic growth was 5%, 5.5% a bit, going forward we will grow even faster. Last year’s growth was how much? 5.39%. The first growth might be above 5.5%,” stated Purbaya.
