The 599th anniversary of Cirebon City is considered not merely an annual ceremony, but a momentum to reflect on a long historical journey while strengthening synergy in building the region’s future. West Java Provincial DPRD member from the Gerindra faction, Daddy Rohanady, assessed that Cirebon holds a very important position in the history and development of civilisation in West Java. Historical traces still preserved through the existence of four sultanates constitute a cultural wealth that must be continuously safeguarded and passed on to future generations. This was conveyed by Daddy after attending the Cirebon City DPRD Plenary Session in the context of the 599th Anniversary of Cirebon City, Tuesday (16/6/2026). “Happy 599th Anniversary of Cirebon City to all residents of Cirebon City. This age, which is nearly six centuries, shows how long Cirebon’s historical journey is and how great its contribution is to West Java and Indonesia,” said Daddy. As a people’s representative from the Cirebon Regency/City electoral district, Daddy admitted he is proud to see the historical and cultural heritage that remains preserved to this day. According to him, the existence of the Kasepuhan, Kanoman, Kacirebonan, and Kaprabonan Palaces is a strong symbol of the civilisational journey that has shaped Cirebon’s identity. He said the West Java Provincial Government also continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the preservation of historical areas while encouraging regional development. Various arrangement programmes have been carried out, ranging from the revitalisation of Alun-Alun Kasepuhan, the arrangement of the Alun-Alun Masjid Agung At-Taqwa area, to the renovation of the Cirebon State Building. “The various efforts that have been made show that historical preservation and regional development can go hand in hand. Cultural heritage must continue to be protected, but at the same time, community welfare must also be continuously improved,” he stated. Daddy assessed that this year’s Cirebon City Anniversary theme, Manunggal Winangun Caruban, carries a message that is very relevant to current development challenges. This theme embodies the spirit of unity, mutual cooperation, and collaboration in realising regional progress. According to him, development cannot be carried out by one party alone. A shared vision is needed between the regional government, DPRD, provincial government, central government, the business world, and the community so that every development programme can provide broader benefits. “The spirit of togetherness is the key. When all elements move with the same goal, various challenges will be easier to face and community welfare can be realised more quickly,” he said. Daddy hopes the commemoration of Cirebon City’s Anniversary can become new energy to strengthen unity and public optimism. With its wealth of history, culture, and economic potential, he believes Cirebon will continue to develop into a city that is advanced, competitive, while still maintaining its identity as one of the important centres of civilisation in Tanah Pasundan. “May the spirit of togetherness inherited by our predecessors continue to live in every step of development. With strong synergy, Cirebon will become more advanced, prosperous, and a source of pride for the people of West Java,” said Daddy.
