Astrindo (BIPI) Partners with Humpuss to Develop US$1.5 Billion Energy Projects
PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk. (BIPI) is partnering with PT Humpuss to explore the development of five energy and industrial projects, with an estimated investment need of US$1.5 billion, or approximately Rp25.5 trillion, assuming an exchange rate of Rp17,000 per US dollar.
The collaboration is marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two companies regarding the development of energy and industrial projects in Indonesia.
Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur’s President Director, Ray Gerungan, stated that this partnership is part of the company’s strategic steps to strengthen its sustainable energy-based investment portfolio.
“This collaboration is expected to create strategic synergies between the competencies, networks, and experiences possessed by each party, while opening opportunities for the development of energy and industrial projects oriented towards sustainability and long-term value addition,” he said in an official statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Through this partnership, BIPI and Humpuss will explore the development of five strategic projects: the reactivation of a catalytic polymerization unit (CPU), a reformate addition project, a crude palm oil (CPO) refinery into cooking oil, a mini liquefied natural gas (LNG), and a geothermal power plant and data centre on Sabang Island, Aceh.
Ray Gerungan views this collaboration as reflecting the commitment of both companies to supporting the development of a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable national energy ecosystem.
Additionally, clean energy-based projects such as mini LNG and a geothermal-powered data centre are seen as aligning with the company’s business transformation strategy towards a more environmentally friendly energy sector based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
Ray Gerungan explained that the memorandum of understanding is still non-binding and serves as an initial foundation for both parties to conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, commercial explorations, and discussions on investment structures for each project.
BIPI and Humpuss are also open to forming joint venture entities with equal participation principles in each project to be developed together.
