Astra units get ISO 14001

JAKARTA (JP): Three subsidiaries of publicly listed Astra International -- namely PT Pulogadung Pawitra Laksana, PT Sumalindo Lestari Jaya and PT Gaya Motor -- received yesterday International Standard Organization (ISO) 14001 certification for quality environmental management.

Astra's president T.P. Rachmat said the certification bestowed by the international certification network KEMA of the Netherlands and France's Afaq proved Astra's commitment to becoming an environmentally friendly corporation.

"We will improve our efforts to implement a quality management system as more and more of Astra's subsidiaries implement the system."

He said that this year at least 17 Astra subsidiaries had received quality certification, comprising of one QS 9000 certificate and three ISO 9001, 10 ISO 9002 and three ISO 14001 certificates. (gis)
