Jakarta (ANTARA) - Astra, through the Michael D. Ruslim Astra Education Foundation (YPA MDR), is collaborating with the Astra Women community to promote a stronger education ecosystem in East Sumba with better learning facilities.

“We express our appreciation and thanks for the implementation of this activity, which is an important part in strengthening the education ecosystem. In the future, we hope similar programmes can continue in other assisted areas, as a joint effort to bring sustainable impact to education in Indonesia,” said Chairman of the Astra Foundation - YPA MDR Board, Gunawan Salim, in a press statement received on Monday.

Together with the Astra Women community, the Volunteering Programme: Education Empowerment in East Sumba took place on 10-11 April 2026, reaching 14 schools sponsored by the Astra Foundation - YPA MDR as well as the Astra Prosperous Village area in East Sumba, involving 12 Astra Women volunteers consisting of employees and Astra Group executives who were present directly to share inspiration and discuss with students, teachers, and parents.

Elmira said this programme not only shares knowledge and experience but also nurtures enthusiasm and confidence in children as well as strengthens the role of families and teachers in supporting the education of school-age children from primary, junior high, and vocational schools in East Sumba.

“We believe that when all parties are empowered and united to support their dreams and aspirations and noble goals, the next generation will grow stronger,” she said.

The Astra community with the Astra Foundation - YPA MDR forms a strong synergy to be part of the long journey in improving education quality, especially in eastern Indonesia.

The presence of Astra Women in this activity also represents the spirit of sharing and care, while opening up broader collaboration opportunities with various Astra Groups and Foundations. With that spirit, it is hoped that more parties will be motivated to participate in building Indonesia’s future generation.
