Jakarta (ANTARA) – Driven by social care and sustainability, Astra, through the Astra Foundation, distributed sacrificial animals to communities across Indonesia during the 1447 H/2026 M Eid al-Adha celebrations. This year’s Qurban initiative, themed ‘Sacrifice for the Nation’s Corners’, reflects Astra’s commitment to ensuring equitable distribution of sacrificial benefits nationwide. The Astra Foundation, through its Amaliah Astra Foundation dedicated to religious and community social activities, alongside Astra Group companies, distributed 3,197 sacrificial animals across 29 provinces, with participation from the entire Astra ecosystem. The symbolic handover was conducted by an Astra representative to North Jakarta Administrative City Deputy Mayor Fredy Setiawan on Monday, 25 May. “Through the ‘Sacrifice for the Nation’s Corners’ initiative, the Astra Foundation and Amaliah Astra Foundation aim to extend the benefits of Eid al-Adha beyond merely distributing sacrificial animals to needy regions, but also strengthen compassion, mutual cooperation, and local livestock farmer empowerment. We believe sacrifice is not merely an annual ritual but a collective effort to spread joy, reinforce solidarity, and bring benefits to all corners of Indonesia,” said Boy Kelana Soebroto, Chairman of the Astra Foundation and Amaliah Astra Foundation. The procurement of sacrificial animals was conducted through collaboration with local farmers across regions. The initiative aims to create sustainable economic impact by improving the welfare of small-scale livestock breeders, strengthening local businesses, and promoting community economic independence. In implementation, Amaliah Astra Foundation ensures responsible Qurban management through environmentally conscious distribution processes, including promoting eco-friendly packaging to reduce single-use plastics. This commitment aligns social benefits with environmental stewardship. Additionally, the entire Qurban process, from slaughter to handling and distribution, was carried out with meticulous adherence to Islamic guidelines, health standards, and regulations. Animal and meat distribution began on 24 May 2026 in parallel across regions, ensuring wider community benefits. Through the spirit of mutual cooperation and Astra’s ‘Prosperity for the Nation’ philosophy, Astra and Amaliah Astra Foundation hope the ‘Sacrifice for the Nation’s Corners’ programme not only brings Eid al-Adha joy but also reinforces compassion, unity, and widespread societal benefits across remote Indonesian regions.
