Astra Invites Youth to Be Sensitive and Deliver Real Benefits to Society
PT Astra International Tbk officially commenced the roadshow series for the 17th SATU Indonesia Awards 2026 by selecting Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, as the opening city on Thursday (12/6). Through this activity, Astra is inviting the younger generation to be more sensitive to issues in their surroundings and transform them into real actions that provide sustainable benefits for society.
The choice of East Java as the launch point was deliberate. According to the 2025 Inter-Census Population Survey (SUPAS) for East Java Province, the population of Generation Z and millennials in this region dominates at nearly 46 percent of the total population, equivalent to almost 19.5 million people. This significant demographic potential is seen as a crucial asset for generating solutions in the fields of health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, and technology.
The opening event, attended by more than 500 participants including university students, school pupils, and social activists, received full support from the local government. Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani expressed appreciation to Astra for facilitating a creative space for the youth in her region. “We hope that through this activity, more great talents can be discovered who will provide benefits to society. The progress of a region is not only determined by the abundance of its natural resources, but also by the quality of its human resources who possess care, creativity, and courage,” Ipuk stated on Tuesday (16/6).
One of the main attractions of the roadshow was a public discussion session featuring Raline Shah, Special Staff to the Minister of Communication and Digital; Windy Riswantyo, Head of Corporate Communications at Astra; and Achmad Irfandi, a recipient of the 2021 SATU Indonesia Awards and founder of the ‘Kampung Lali Gadget’ movement in Sidoarjo. During the session, Achmad Irfandi shared his story of reducing children’s gadget addiction through structured traditional games, which has since evolved into an independent educational area. A similar spirit was demonstrated by a line-up of award alumni from Banyuwangi, such as Oka Bayu Pratama (2025 technology winner), Vicky Hendri Kurniawan, Tunggul Harwanto (2020), and Muhammad Farid (2010).
Astra management explained that in this 17th edition, youth innovation programmes will be directly integrated with the Astra Prosperous Village programme (DSA). “Through the theme ‘Connected in Action’, Astra wants to emphasise that every good initiative from the younger generation will have a broader impact when connected with the community, local government, and a sustainable supporting ecosystem,” said Boy Kelana Soebroto, Chief of Corporate Affairs at Astra, in a statement on Tuesday (16/6). To date, the awards programme has identified 792 inspirational youths at the national level, while the DSA programme has fostered 1,533 villages across 35 provinces. Participant enthusiasm continues to surge; the 2025 edition recorded 17,708 registrants. Registration for the 17th SATU Indonesia Awards 2026 has been open since 1 April and will close on 1 August 2026. National winners will receive development funding of Rp65 million along with an exclusive mentoring programme with Astra to scale up the social impact of their innovations. Following Banyuwangi, the roadshow is scheduled to continue in Makassar and Lombok.
