Banyuwangi (ANTARA) - PT Astra International Tbk held a roadshow for its youth appreciation programme, the 17th SATU Indonesia Awards 2026, packaged as an inspirational talk and attended by hundreds of youths in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, on Friday. The series of outreach activities for the 2026 SATU Indonesia Awards aims to recruit young innovators who bring positive impact to society in five fields: health, education, technology, environment, and entrepreneurship. Astra’s Head of Corporate Communication, Windy Riswantyo, stated that the 17th SATU Indonesia Awards in 2026 represents the company’s consistency in supporting national progress through youth. ‘To achieve success, competence is important, and connections are no less important. The SATU Indonesia Awards serves as a platform for appreciation as well as a network for these connections,’ Windy said during the inspirational talk. She noted that Astra currently supports approximately 1,500 villages across Indonesia and expressed hope that this year’s awards would foster new collaborations with an even broader impact, such as the replication of previous winners’ programmes in various regions. Meanwhile, Raline Shah, Special Staff to the Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs and a judge for the SATU Indonesia Awards 2026, spoke about the importance of life balance in the digital era. She noted that gadget addiction is a global challenge, not just an Indonesian one. ‘To prevent this, we have the TUNAS programme, which aims to ensure children under 16 do not go overboard,’ Raline said. She added that the current challenge is to foster enthusiasm and grow social empathy within society, as sharper technological developments bring greater challenges for humans to maintain empathy, with time often consumed by gadget screens. ‘I personally feel honoured to be part of the SATU Indonesia Awards jury. I hope friends in Banyuwangi and across Indonesia will participate in the SATU Indonesia Awards,’ she said. Astra also presented a 2021 SATU Indonesia Awards recipient and Astra Sejahtera Village Mover, Achmad Irfandi, the initiator of ‘Lali Gadget’ (Forget Gadgets) from Sidoarjo. He shared his success story in addressing concerns about children’s addiction to gadgets. ‘Initially, we were worried seeing young children constantly playing with gadgets, so we moved to reintroduce traditional games and accompany children when they use gadgets,’ he said. According to Achmad Irfandi, the core strategy of the movement is not to ban technology entirely, but to increase physical interaction and reintroduce traditional games. He noted that the negative impacts of gadget addiction on children are numerous, including criminality and intellectual decline. ‘To sustain the Kampung Lali Gadget programme, the first requirement is that it runs when there are people and resources. Hopefully, we can replicate it in Banyuwangi,’ he said. He added that the method of Kampung Lali Gadget is simple: inviting children to play and interact again like in the old days. ‘Just like our own childhoods, we invite them to play traditional games. It is that easy and simple,’ Achmad Irfandi said.
