Astra expands green contributions in Jakarta through sustainability aspirations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Astra International Tbk is expanding the scope of its sustainable social and environmental contributions within the DKI Jakarta Province to ensure the success of corporate targets outlined in the Astra 2/030 Sustainability Aspiration.
Speaking at the launch of the corporate internal programme titled “Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta” (Astra Personnel, Let’s Use Jakarta Public Transport) in observance of World Environment Day in Jakarta on Friday, Astra President Director Rudy stated that the expansion of this green programme aims to measurably reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“The Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspiration includes activities such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, utilising renewable energy, recycling solid waste, and more,” he said in the presence of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.
Rudy explained that the realisation of this long-term commitment is being concretely implemented in the capital, including through the development of regular clusters based on ecosystem preservation in the Thousand Islands region.
Furthermore, the national corporation has activated the ‘Kampung Iklim’ (Climate Village) programme across 21 sub-districts through strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Environment.
As of June 2026, Astra’s realisation of productive tree planting within the Jakarta administrative area has surpassed one million trees, representing approximately one-third of the company’s total national target.
To complement the sustainability pillar in the urban transport sector, Astra has launched a movement encouraging hundreds of its employees to switch to mass public transport, alongside beautifying Transjakarta bus stops and MRT stations through collaborations with local artists.
Through the integration of comprehensive environmental programmes and the expansion of the Astra Prosperous Village network, the issuer, which possesses hundreds of subsidiaries, is optimistic about accelerating Jakarta’s transformation into a low-emission global city.
“This campaign is part of Astra’s support for the Jakarta Provincial Government’s vision to build Jakarta as a greener, more inclusive, and sustainable global city. As a company that has existed for six decades, we want to encourage Astra personnel in Jakarta to make using public transport for commuting part of their daily identity,” said Rudy.
