Jakarta - Astra has launched the ‘Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta’ programme to commemorate World Environment Day. This programme represents a form of Astra’s participation in supporting various initiatives by the Special Capital Region of Jakarta to become a greener, more sustainable, and inclusive global city. The launch was attended by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and officials from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Astra President Director Rudy, members of the Astra Board of Directors, and executives from Astra and its group companies. Governor Anung stated his appreciation for Astra, a company with a long history and significant contribution to Indonesia, for taking part in the campaign for public transport use in Jakarta. He expressed hope that this step would have a positive impact and serve as an example for other companies to jointly support a culture of public transport usage. Astra President Director Rudy said that through this programme, Astra is participating in supporting a culture of public transport use whilst strengthening synergy with various stakeholders to support Jakarta’s city development by delivering relevant mobility solutions for the community. He expressed hope that this collaborative programme can provide wider benefits, in line with Astra’s aspiration to Prosper with the Nation. The programme is an initiative aimed at Astra employees as part of an effort to encourage a culture of using public transport starting from the Astra work environment. It invites employees to utilise various public transport modes for their daily commute, supported by a cashback programme via the AstraPay application, which is integrated with public transport service applications such as Transjakarta and the Jakarta MRT. Astra has previously contributed to the public transport user experience in Jakarta through creative art displays in the open areas of the Bundaran HI Astra Transjakarta Shelter, the Menara Astra Transjakarta Shelter, and the Setiabudi Astra MRT Station. These creative works were a collaboration between Astra and various Indonesian artists. Rudy noted that the launch of these various programmes aligns with Astra’s spirit of being an asset that benefits the nation and country, as reflected in its Catur Dharma philosophy. He stated that Astra and its ecosystem have created economic and social impacts reaching the Indonesian public through more than 1 million jobs, empowering over 50,000 local partners, operating 322 subsidiaries, and supported by more than 190,000 employees. On the sustainability front, Astra launched its 2030 Sustainability Aspirations in 2022, encompassing targets such as greenhouse gas emission reductions, increased renewable energy use in operations, reduced water withdrawal intensity, and increased solid waste recycling, alongside community empowerment through the Desa Sejahtera Astra programme. This programme focuses on four pillars: Health, Education, Environment, and Entrepreneurship, aiming to strengthen local economies and expand access to services. To date, Astra has fostered over 1,500 prosperous villages across 35 provinces in Indonesia, reaching more than 3 million beneficiaries and bringing flagship village products to international markets with an export valuation reaching Rp411 billion. In Jakarta specifically, Astra runs these development programmes, including in the Kepulauan Seribu, supports the Climate Village Programme, has planted over one million trees, manages waste banks, and contributes to public space development and urban revitalisation. Rudy concluded that these initiatives are part of Astra’s synergy with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in supporting sustainable development and improving the community’s quality of life, in line with the company’s aspirations and Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals.
