Jakarta (ANTARA) – Astra, through its Nurani Astra Programme, has distributed 20 ambulances and 156 medical equipment units to the Health Ministry to support the recovery of healthcare services for communities affected by flash flooding and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin commended Astra’s support in strengthening healthcare facilities in the disaster-affected regions. “The Government appreciates Astra’s support in helping strengthen healthcare services for communities in disaster-affected areas. Collaboration like this is crucial to ensure that healthcare facilities in the regions can continue to provide rapid and adequate services to the public, particularly during the post-disaster recovery phase,” Budi said during a symbolic handover ceremony at the Health Ministry headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March.

The symbolic handover of assistance was conducted by Astra Director Hamdhani Dzulkarnaen Salim to representatives of recipient hospitals, witnessed by Interior Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian and Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto.

Boy Kelana Soebroto stated that through Nurani Astra, the company seeks to assist communities undergoing recovery following hydrometeorological disasters in the Sumatra region. “The distribution of these ambulances and medical equipment is expected to strengthen healthcare services in the affected areas, enabling communities to obtain medical assistance access more quickly and effectively,” he said.

Additionally, one ambulance unit each was distributed to a primary health centre in Central Tapanuli District, a regional hospital in Medan City, and a primary health centre in Padang Pariaman City.

Since December 2025, Astra has also conducted inspections and repairs of 126 ambulances distributed across various affected regions, including four locations in Aceh, 17 locations in North Sumatra, and 10 locations in West Sumatra.

Beyond ambulances, Astra, through Astra Otoparts, also distributed 156 medical equipment units to enhance healthcare services in the disaster-affected areas. The assistance comprises 122 units of medical equipment for eight regional hospitals in Aceh and 34 units of medical equipment for the Medan Medical Equipment and Facilities Safety Bureau.

Astra stated that its support for strengthening community healthcare services aligns with the company’s commitment to contributing to public welfare and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia.
