Astra CMG opens new office

JAKARTA (JP): PT Astra CMG Life, a joint venture of Indonesia's Astra International Group and Australia's Colonial Group, has opened a new marketing office in Pekanbaru to cater to the growing demand for life insurance services in the Riau provincial capital.

The Riau opening brings to 14 Astra CMG's marketing offices nationwide.

It has five marketing offices in Jakarta, two in Bandung, and one each in Surabaya, Malang, Banjarmasin, Medan, Palembang and Bandarlampung.

The company plans to open offices in Pontianak, Balikpapan, Denpasar and Semarang soon.

Astra CMG also reported an increase of 82 percent in premium income to Rp 49 billion (US$6.53 million) in the first nine months of this year over the same period last year.

The Pekanbaru office is expected to contribute about 5 percent to Astra CMG's premium income in the coming years, the company said. (aly)
