Astra Agro's palm oil output rises

JAKARTA: PT Astra Agro Lestari, Indonesia's largest publicly
traded plantation company, said palm oil output increased 9.3
percent in the four months ending on April 30 from the same
period in the previous year.

Production of crude palm oil rose to 268,885 metric tons from
246,004 tons, Astra Agro said on its website.

Palm oil is processed into cooking oil and turned into
chemicals used in detergent, soap and shampoo. It competes with
soybean oil on the world vegetable oil market. -- Bloomberg
