Astra Agro Strengthens Village Empowerment Programme
PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk has reiterated its commitment to strengthening village empowerment programmes across all its operational areas in Indonesia, reaching 256 villages in 20 districts. The Astra Prosperous Village programme aims to deliver tangible benefits to communities and the environment through sustainable business practices.
The company conveyed this commitment during an engagement and breaking-fast gathering with Astra Agro management in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Monday, 9 March. Agus Budiarto, Manager of Astra Agro’s South Kalimantan Area, stated that the company believes sustainability can only be achieved when the company and communities grow and develop together.
“Astra Agro continues to strengthen various initiatives that provide tangible benefits whilst promoting collaboration with various parties to ensure transparent information and programme impact can be widely felt,” he said.
In line with the company’s Sustainability Aspirations, Astra Agro implements a 3P Roadmap strategy focusing on Portfolio, People, and Public Contribution as the foundation for responsible business practices.
Joko Subagio, Manager of Social Engagement at Astra Agro, explained that this commitment is realised through village-based corporate social responsibility programmes encompassing four main pillars: Astra Creative, Astra Health, Astra Smart, and Astra Green. Through these programmes, Astra Agro promotes village community self-sufficiency through MSME strengthening, improved health services based on community health centres, educational support, and environmental conservation education.
All these initiatives are implemented through the Astra Prosperous Village programme, designed to create more targeted and sustainable impact for village communities. Through collaboration with local governments, village institutions, and communities, Astra Agro remains committed to expanding programme reach to enable village communities to grow increasingly independent, empowered, and prosperous.
