Astra Agro CPO sales soar by 6.7%

JAKARTA: Indonesia's crude palm oil (CPO) producer PT Astra
Agro Lestari said Tuesday its crude palm oil sales volume in 2002
rose 6.7 percent from a year earlier to 465,152 metric tons.

The average price it obtained for its CPO sales increased more
than 40 percent last year, to Rp 3,077 (34 U.S. cent) per
kilogram from Rp 2,192/kg in 2001, it said in a statement.

Astra Agro increased its CPO exports last year, with exports
accounting for 10.8 percent of sales compared with 1.9 percent in
2001, it added.

Astra Agro is the plantation unit of PT Astra International.
