Astindo: Improving Jakarta's Tourism Must Start with Education

The Chair of the Indonesian Travel Agent Association (Astindo) for DKI Jakarta, Rina Darmawan, has stated that improving tourism in Jakarta must start with introducing the sector through education from an early age. She argued that children should be taught that tourism is a blessing for Jakarta. From this early awareness, she said, superior human resources for the tourism sector will emerge, making it easier to deliver the expected hospitality in hotels, recreational areas, or restaurants. Meanwhile, Syarif Hidayat, Head of the Tourism Business Subgroup at the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, urged industry players, particularly in the hotel sector, to focus on improving service quality. He noted that good service, combined with supporting facilities such as adequate parking and accessibility, forms a unified effort to enhance the hotel industry and improve Jakarta’s image going forward.
