An asthmatic patient who was carried across a collapsed road in Buwun Mas village, Sekotong district, West Lombok, died on Thursday afternoon (26/2/2026). The patient, named Rendy Wisnu Saputra (16), had previously gone viral due to the dramatic evacuation.

The head of Buwun Mas village, Rochidi, said that Rendy was declared dead after receiving treatment at the Patut Patuh Patju Hospital, Gerung district. He was treated after being referred from the community health centre.

“Yes (he died), earlier at the Gerung Hospital,” he said on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Rochidi said that Rendy’s asthma was quite severe and could not be treated. However, he also acknowledged that there may have been a delay in treatment because the evacuation of Rendy to the community health centre took time.

“Because his illness was indeed acute, that’s what the Gerung Hospital said earlier. But it could also be that the treatment was delayed, it was delayed because he was carried across the damaged road,” he explained.

According to Rochidi, the family had communicated with the community health centre in advance so that Rendy could be picked up by ambulance. However, the ambulance was said to have arrived late.

Now Rendy’s body has been returned to his home using an ambulance and the funeral will be held tomorrow. “The ambulance went through Central Lombok to take the deceased home,” he said.

Previously, a resident of Buwun Mas village, Sekotong district, West Lombok, had to be carried across a collapsed road when he was about to be taken to the community health centre because of asthma, on Thursday (26/2/2026). The incident went viral on social media.

The road access to the village was known to be cut off due to a landslide that occurred two days earlier. The road has not yet been repaired.

Based on the video that went viral and was seen by detikBali, the sick resident was dramatically evacuated by being carried by three people, two men and one woman who supported his head, while crossing the collapsed road. A number of other residents also accompanied them.

After passing the damaged road, a medical team on a motorbike was seen arriving to pick up the patient, carrying an oxygen tank.

The head of Buwun Mas village, Rochidi, confirmed the incident. He said that the patient had been taken to the community health centre and had received treatment.

“Yes, that’s right, it was this morning. Apparently, he had asthma,” he said on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Rochidi said that the collapsed road access had caused a commotion among residents, who then rushed to bring the asthmatic patient to the pick-up point.

“Because the road was cut off, that’s why it caused a commotion. Then it was also filmed and published,” he said.
