Association Appreciates Prabowo's Initiative to Hold People's Bazaar to Boost SME Turnover
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Small Medium Enterprises Association (ISMEA) appreciates President Prabowo Subianto’s initiative through the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) to hold a People’s Bazaar in the Monas area to assist public purchasing power and boost UMKM turnover.
“This people’s festival provides two benefits: helping the purchasing power of residents in Jabodetabek, as well as increasing UMKM turnover amid the sluggish marketing of domestic products,” said ISMEA Chair Endang Rudiatin in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
She stated that the event gives hope to UMKM that the government cares about UMKM issues.
“I hope this activity becomes a regular agenda for the President and the UMKM ministry so that the statements by government officials that UMKM is the backbone of Indonesia’s economy are truly realised,” she said.
ISMEA is an UMKM association that has several UMKM groups such as fashion and crafts, packaged and ready-to-eat culinary products, as well as digital and non-digital service products.
Ida Fitriya, an UMKM actor participating in the People’s Bazaar, expressed gratitude for being able to sell off her stock of leather shoes and sandals.
Similarly, Elvi Susanti, an UMKM actor selling batik shoes and bags, felt helped by the People’s Bazaar activity.
Previously, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo wants as many citizens as possible to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in an atmosphere of togetherness through a bazaar and people’s entertainment held in the Monas area, Jakarta, on Saturday (28/3).
Teddy explained that the activity is part of the government’s efforts to bring Eid joy to the wider community, especially Jakarta residents who do not go home for the holidays or those who have returned from their hometowns, particularly beneficiary families.
The government prepared 100,000 shopping vouchers for groceries and free goods worth Rp500,000 per voucher, as well as 300,000 free meal portions served by around 800 street vendor UMKM traders involved in the event.
