Asset Tokenisation Surges, RWA Market Capitalisation Tops US$32.38 Billion
The asset tokenisation or Real-World Assets (RWA) sector has recorded rapid growth in recent years. Based on data from RWA.xyz as of 17 June 2026, the market capitalisation of asset tokenisation has breached US$32.38 billion. This figure has soared sharply compared to US$1.8 billion at the start of 2024. The increase is driven by increasingly widespread adoption by global financial institutions and rising retail investor interest in more flexible global investment access.
Asset tokenisation is a digital representation of real-world assets, such as US stocks, bonds, or gold, issued in the form of tokens on a blockchain network. Each token has a 1:1 value ratio with the underlying asset. This innovation is considered capable of breaking down the limitations of traditional investment by delivering faster transactions, 24/7 trading, and higher transparency.
The entry of global financial institutions such as BlackRock, JPMorgan, and Goldman Sachs indicates that asset tokenisation is beginning to be viewed as the foundation for next-generation financial infrastructure. Research firm McKinsey & Company even projects the sector’s capitalisation could reach US$2 trillion by 2030.
From an economic perspective, asset tokenisation opens broader investment access for retail investors. Currently, tokenised stocks, such as Apple and Nvidia shares, as well as commodities like PAXG-based digital gold, are instruments in high demand. If previously investment in global stocks or physical gold required large capital and relatively complex processes, investors can now access them with more affordable capital.
