Asset Recovery Agency reveals Pharaoh chair replica sold for Rp80 million
Jakarta — The Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office disclosed that a replica of the Pharaoh’s chair, seized from convict Jimmy Sutopo, was sold for Rp80 million during the BPA Fair held from 18 to 21 May 2026. “Alhamdulillah, the Pharaoh chair has been sold. The price is Rp80 million plus, and that’s a good value,” BPA Chief Kuntadi said at the BPA Building in Jakarta on Thursday. The Pharaoh chair replica being auctioned carried the catalogue entry ‘King Tutankhamen’s Egyptian Throne Chair’ and is a miniature throne of the Egyptian Pharaoh. The chair stems from the execution of Jimmy Sutopo, who was sentenced in a case of suspected corruption and money laundering related to the financial management and investment funds at PT Asabri (Persero). Furthermore, Kuntadi revealed that the asset with the highest sale value was the Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle owned by Rajo Emirsyah, a convict in a money laundering case linked to shielding online betting sites (judol) at the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi). In percentage terms, he said, the motorcycle’s sale price increased by up to 930 percent. In addition, that motorcycle attracted the largest number of bidders. “We observed that Harley is indeed one of the items we showcased during Car Free Day. There was already strong public interest,” he said. The catalogue states that the motorcycle was listed with a reserve of Rp87.4 million and ultimately sold for Rp901.5 million. The Indonesian Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency held the BPA Fair from 18–21 May 2026 to auction seized assets from various cases, ranging from luxury cars, luxury motorcycles, jewellery, to gold paintings. Of the 308 items auctioned, 300 were sold. BPA also recorded total auction proceeds of Rp997.47 billion. That total comprises the total reserve value of sold assets amounting to Rp922.26 billion and the increase in auction price value of Rp74.75 billion.
