The House of Representatives’ Legislation Body (Baleg) has denied information suggesting the Asset Forfeiture Bill has been removed from the 2026 Priority National Legislation Programme (Prolegnas). This was conveyed by Baleg Deputy Chair Martin Manurung. He stated that no decision was ratified in a plenary session regarding the removal of the Asset Forfeiture Bill from this year’s Priority Prolegnas. “The bill is still registered in the 2026 Priority Prolegnas as number six, proposed by the DPR,” Martin said in an official statement on Monday, 13 July 2026. He said the legislative body and the government are focused on completing the drafting of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. Therefore, Martin stated that its deliberation must be carried out optimally and involve public participation. “The drafting meetings are continuing intensively in Commission III,” said the NasDem Party politician. On a separate occasion, Chair of House Commission III Habiburokhman dismissed the issue of any rejection attempt from parliament regarding the enactment of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. According to him, such rumours have recently been circulating on social media. “So it is not true, there is a hoax in the mass media, mostly from anonymous accounts saying the DPR rejects the enactment of the Asset Forfeiture Bill,” he said at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Monday, 13 July 2026. He stated that his commission remains committed to completing the formation of this new legal product regulating the forfeiture of corruptors’ assets. “We are going full throttle with turbo to establish this Asset Forfeiture Law,” he said.
