Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a public hearing with the National Leadership Council of the Indonesian Law Students Association (Permahi) to discuss the Asset Forfeiture Bill. During the meeting, Permahi proposed the addition of a cluster specifically related to online gambling crimes.

“Within this Asset Forfeiture Bill, there needs to be a cluster—specific clusters regarding the application of the Asset Forfeiture Law—so that it does not become a law that indiscriminately sweeps through all aspects,” said Permahi representative Lalu Reno during the hearing at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

Reno proposed that the implementation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill be limited to certain criminal acts. One of the proposed clusters is gambling offences.

“However, what we wish to add as the 14th cluster is related to gambling crimes,” he stated.

Reno then touched upon several issues currently attracting public attention, including the luxury cluster issue at Cibinong Prison and the case of Indra Kenz. He questioned the possibility of forfeiting digital assets, including cryptocurrency, which are allegedly hidden by convicts.

“We all know that these days there is heated discussion regarding Cibinong Prison and the conditional release of Indra Kenz. When Indra Kenz was sentenced, can the assets hidden in the form of crypto be confiscated by the state? We are not yet able to answer the legal challenges posed by such phenomena,” he said.

“Therefore, it is important to introduce clusters for the use of the Asset Forfeiture Law; we are adding a 14th cluster regarding online gambling crimes,” he added.
