Asset and Infrastructure Optimisation Strengthens National Logistics System
PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (Krakatau Steel Group), through its subsidiary PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera (KBS), continues to strengthen its role as a strategic logistics hub in Banten Province. This is being achieved through synergy between state-owned enterprises with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) (Pelindo) and the development of value-added logistics services via a storage isotank business partnership with PT SGC Barito Logistics. This move is part of Krakatau Steel Group’s commitment to supporting national logistics efficiency, implementing the Zero Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) programme, and strengthening industrial area connectivity, which is a driver of national economic growth. PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk President Director Akbar Djohan affirmed the group’s commitment to making a tangible contribution to strengthening the national logistics system through the optimisation of its assets and infrastructure. “State-owned enterprises must deliver systemic impact. Krakatau Steel Group has assets and infrastructure that can be optimised to support smooth national distribution while improving Indonesia’s logistics efficiency,” Akbar Djohan stated on Thursday (11/6/2026). As an implementation of this commitment, KBS and Pelindo have operated a Ro-Ro vessel service connecting Cigading Port and Panjang Port with a frequency of two trips per day and a capacity of approximately 200 vehicles. This service is intended to help reduce traffic congestion on the Merak–Bakauheni route while increasing the efficiency of inter-regional goods distribution. “Indonesia is a maritime nation. This step proves that the shift of logistics distribution, both outbound and inbound from industrial areas in Banten, can be carried out via sea routes more effectively and efficiently,” added Akbar Djohan. During the Forum Group Discussion on Logistics Connectivity Implementation in Banten, KBS also signed a Cooperation Agreement with PT SGC Barito Logistics for the provision of isotank storage services within the KBS operational area. This partnership is a strategic step in supporting supply chain efficiency while expanding the integrated logistics services developed by KBS. The development of the isotank storage business is also part of efforts to optimise the company’s port assets and capabilities to meet the growing needs of industries in the Banten region and its surroundings. Akbar Djohan emphasised that strengthening KBS’s role as an industrial logistics hub in Banten aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which focuses on strengthening economic self-reliance through industrial downstreaming, strategic infrastructure development, and enhancing national connectivity. “Through synergy with Pelindo and the development of new logistics services, we continue to encourage the creation of a more efficient, integrated, and competitive logistics ecosystem to support sustainable national industrial growth,” concluded Akbar Djohan.
