Assault on Petrol Station Employee Triggered by Barcode Data: Driving a Toyota Vellfire, but Filling Up with Pertalite
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The East Jakarta Police have named JMH as a suspect in the assault of a petrol station employee in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.
The Chief of the East Jakarta Police, Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal, explained that the suspect had been arrested in the Rawalumbu area.
“We have secured the suspect, JMH, also known as A, aged 31, who resides in Bekasi,” said Alfian at his office on Wednesday (26/2/2026).
“The data displayed on the EDC machine did not match the vehicle driven by the suspect,” he added.
The data showed a green Toyota Land Cruiser, while the vehicle driven by the suspect was a black Toyota Vellfire with license plate L 1 XD.
“The operator refused to carry out the fuel filling. Then the suspect vented his anger and committed acts of violence against the three victims,” said Alfian.
Previously, three employees of a Pertamina petrol station in Cipinang were assaulted by a customer during the fuel filling process on Sunday (23/2/2026) evening.
The petrol station staff, Mukhlisin (38), explained that the incident began when the customer wanted to fill up with Pertalite, but the vehicle used did not match the data on the barcode.
“In fact, the customer was filling up with Pertalite, and the barcode number was correct, but the car did not match the one shown on the EDC. So, according to the rules, the license plate number and the car must match on the petrol station’s EDC,” said Mukhlisin.
“The customer claimed that ‘This is a general’s car’. In the video, he also said ‘police chief’. There is a narrative, there are words ‘police chief’ when he was shouting,” he said.
