The mutual reporting case related to the assault incident involving Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Ronald A. Sinaga, known as Bro Ron, has ended peacefully. Menteng Metro Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu stated that both parties have agreed to resolve the matter through restorative justice (RJ). “This afternoon, both parties have submitted a process for resolving the case through the restorative justice mechanism. On the basis that both parties have mutually forgiven each other, acknowledged their mistakes, and forgiven one another,” Braiel told reporters on Thursday (7/5). Braiel explained that both parties have also withdrawn the reports they filed. He said that his side is still processing the RJ submitted by both. “Subsequently, the legal process from the police reports by both parties will be completed and finalised through the procedural mechanism of restorative justice case resolution,” he added. Previously, Bro Ron became the victim of an assault in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (4/5). The incident was then reported by Bro Ron to the Menteng Police Sector. Bro Ron explained that the incident occurred while he was accompanying a colleague in an audience with the leadership of the law firm Michael Putra and Partners (MPP) over allegations of embezzlement of Rp9 billion from PT SKS. Bro Ron said that initially his colleague, along with several other employees, held an action at the MPP office. Then, around 18:00 WIB, three people claiming to be security asked them to leave the building, leading to an argument. Not long after, he continued, the three security personnel returned and got into another argument. And, he added, a severe assault occurred, causing his head to bleed. “Fifteen minutes later, these three individuals went back up to the fourth floor (location of MPP office), and suddenly the argument started again. About 10 seconds after they appeared from the stairs, the assault happened as shown in the video,” he said. On the same day, the alleged assailant reported Bro Ron back to the Menteng Police Sector. Rizal, as the complainant, said he countersued Bro Ron for alleged criminal assault as stipulated in Article 466 of the Criminal Code. “Yes, I have countersued the individual. The report concerns the assault and shoving accompanied by inappropriate verbal abuse,” he stated.
