Assault Case Involving Bro Ron Resolved Peacefully Through Restorative Justice
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The dispute that led to mutual reports between Ronald A. Sinaga, alias Bro Ron, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), and Muhammad Rizal Berhet has ended peacefully. Both parties agreed to resolve the matter through restorative justice (RJ) after private meetings and mediation at Metro Menteng Police Station, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5/2026). Metro Menteng Police Chief, Braiel Rondonuwu, confirmed that the violence case would be handled via RJ procedures following the withdrawal of reports by each side. Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Head, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, added that investigators are processing the Order to Stop Investigation (SP3) to be submitted to the court. “It will be SP3’d through the restorative justice process. But we will submit it to the court for the SP3 determination,” Roby explained. Police also allowed both parties to correct hoax narratives that had circulated on social media. On the same occasion, Bro Ron explained that his decision to withdraw the report was made after understanding the full sequence of events from the opposing side. The mediation process was described as lengthy, lasting more than 10 hours from Wednesday night to Thursday morning. “What happened in the field can be said to be 100 percent miscommunication after knowing the story’s flow—why we were there, why there was Bang Randi, why there was Bang Ical. It turns out we were there not to be hostile. Pure miscommunication,” Bro Ron stated. He acknowledged that many parties hoped the case would continue. “My decision is to make peace, accept the request for us to embrace each other, forgive one another, and not continue this case. Indeed, many hope the legal case proceeds, but that is not my goal. In the end, we add to our brotherhood,” he said. Bro Ron also extended an apology to the public for the disturbance that had gone viral. On the other hand, Muhammad Rizal Berhet has also withdrawn his report.
