Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Tourism Practitioners Association (ASPPI) Aceh is continuously intensifying tourism promotion to increase visits from both domestic and international tourists to the westernmost province of Indonesia.

The Chairman of ASPPI Aceh, Apri Al Amin, stated in Banda Aceh on Monday that tourist visits to the province, nicknamed the ‘Serambi Mekah’ (Veranda of Mecca), are showing a positive trend. This is evidenced by the increasing number of visitors to Aceh.

“We are continuously intensifying tourism promotion through various channels, such as social media and others. This promotion is conducted to attract the interest of tourists to visit Aceh Province,” he said.

Promotion, he added, is also carried out at several tourism marts, such as the Riau Travel Mart and Central Java Travel Mart. At these tourism marts, members of ASPPI Aceh offer various attractive tour packages to travel bureau managers from various provinces across Indonesia.

Apri Al Amin mentioned that ASPPI Aceh also plans to organise a tourism mart named the Aceh Travel Mart in 2027. This event serves as a meeting point, bringing together tourism package sellers from Aceh with buyers from other regions and abroad.

According to him, the Aceh Travel Mart, which is held every two years, contributes significantly to increasing both domestic and international tourist arrivals to Aceh Province.

The last Aceh Travel Mart was held in May 2025. The event received a positive response from tourism package buyers from various Indonesian provinces, as well as from Malaysia and Thailand.

“The increase in tourist visits to Aceh provides a multiplier effect on the community’s economy. Therefore, we continue to strive to increase tourist interest in visiting the existing tourism destinations in this region,” said Apri Al Amin.

Previously, the Aceh Provincial Culture and Tourism Office noted that visits from both domestic and international tourists to the westernmost province of Indonesia have grown positively.

“The trend of tourist visits to Aceh is growing positively. This serves as an indicator that Aceh’s appeal remains strong in the eyes of tourists,” said the Head of Tourism Marketing at the Aceh Culture and Tourism Office, Akmal Fajar.

He explained that the Aceh Government, through the Culture and Tourism Office, continues to strive to maintain this positive growth momentum, including through more adaptive and targeted tourism promotion strengthening.

According to him, several areas are highlighted as premier destinations for tourists, including Pulau Weh in Sabang City, Banda Aceh City, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Singkil Regency, Simeulue Regency, and others.

“We continue to push these destinations as priorities for short-term promotion. We are also optimising various platforms, both digital and through collaborations with industry players and communities, to ensure that destination information is conveyed widely and accurately,” said Akmal Fajar.
