Two cases of alleged corruption at PT Gerbang NTB Emas (GNE), which are being handled by the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati NTB), remain stuck at the investigation stage. Assistant Special Crimes (Aspidsus) of Kejati NTB, Muh Zulkifli Said, admitted that he is afraid to bring the cases to trial.

‘The GNE corruption cases are somewhat troublesome. To be honest, it seems troublesome. I worry that when I push for them to be brought to court, they might not be proven,’ said Zulkifli on Thursday (5 March 2026).

Nevertheless, the cases remain under investigation. He did not comment much on the obstacles faced. ‘Wait, be patient first,’ he said.

Several witnesses have been examined by investigators in the two cases. They include former PT GNE director Samsul Hadi. Investigators have also enlisted experts to calculate state losses. However, state losses have not yet been found. ‘Not found yet, not that there isn’t. Not yet found,’ he said.

The PT GNE case handled by the NTB Kejati relates to alleged corruption in development cooperation and the management of the water-supply system in Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno, between PT Gerbang NTB Emas (GNE) and PT Berkat Air Laut (BAL).

The second case concerns alleged corruption in capital participation for 2019-2024 obtained from loans from several banks. PT GNE also received capital from the NTB provincial government amounting to Rp 27 billion. The funds were used for capital in several business lines. The ventures undertaken by PT GNE from this capital participation include timber, provision of staple goods to Mahadesa, housing, maize farming, and other activities.
