The Indonesian Energy, Mineral and Coal Suppliers Association (Aspebindo) held the Aspebindo Bioenergy Business Summit 2026 at Aloft by Marriott, West Jakarta, on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. The forum is part of Aspebindo’s transformation direction in expanding its members’ role in the renewable energy business, particularly bioenergy.

The Chairman of the Aspebindo Bioenergy Business Summit 2026 Organising Committee, M. Hadi Nainggolan, said that the summit is the first step in a series of activities to bring together resource potential, industrial needs, policy support and investment access.

“Aspebindo is ready to take a more active role in supporting the development of the bioenergy business in Indonesia. This summit is not a standalone event. We have prepared a series of sustainable activations, ranging from policy forums, business matching, strengthening member capacity, project exploration, to talent development. Our direction is clear: to help bioenergy grow into a viable, measurable business capable of providing real benefits for national energy security and regional economies,” said Hadi on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Aspebindo, Anggawira, explained that the organisation’s change in direction stems from energy policy developments and increasing business opportunities in the renewable energy sector. According to him, Indonesia has sufficient resources to build a bioenergy industry, but its development requires an interconnected business ecosystem.

Through this forum, Aspebindo seeks to bring together policymakers with companies that will carry out investment and operational activities in the field. This connectivity is needed so that Aspebindo members can build relevant competencies, understand the technical needs of the industry, and develop competitive business models.

Aspebindo views bioenergy as a business field that has a direct connection to the energy security agenda. The development of biodiesel, bioethanol, biomass, biogas and waste-based energy can reduce dependence on imported fuel while creating new economic activities in raw material-producing regions.

The Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, said that BRIN is conducting various research to support the implementation of B50. The research covers biodiesel storage and handling, development of filtration systems, characterisation of B50 under various storage conditions, performance and emission testing, as well as evaluation of fuel reliability in engines.
