Aspebindo Applauds Priority for Local Mining Services, Urges Transparent and Measurable Implementation
The Indonesian Association of Energy, Mineral, and Coal Suppliers (Aspebindo) supports and appreciates the steps taken by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to strengthen priorities for local mining service companies and to clarify regulations regarding the use of subsidiaries and affiliates by mining permit holders.
The General Chairman of Aspebindo, Anggawira, believes that this policy could open wider opportunities for businesses located around mining areas. According to him, the benefits of mining activities should be felt through the growth of regional companies, job creation, and the enhancement of local workforce capabilities.
“Aspebindo appreciates the steps taken by the Minister of ESDM. Producing regions should not merely serve as locations for resource extraction. Local entrepreneurs must also receive genuine opportunities to enter and grow within the mining supply chain,” Anggawira stated in a briefing on Tuesday, 28 September 2026.
Anggawira emphasised that priority for local companies must be implemented with clear requirements. Mining permit holders must still ensure that service providers meet standards for safety, technical capability, work quality, and punctuality. Conversely, local companies require access to procurement information and opportunities to increase their capacity.
“Support for local businesses must be accompanied by coaching and a transparent procurement process. In this way, regional companies can grow into reliable partners, while mining activities continue to run safely and efficiently,” he said.
Aspebindo is urging the government and mining companies to develop maps of goods and services requirements in every operational area, make procurement opportunities easily accessible, and facilitate partnerships between local companies and experienced firms. Aspebindo also hopes that the implementation of these regulations will be evaluated periodically, including in terms of local business involvement, labour absorption, and work quality.
“The ultimate goal is a more open mining ecosystem that provides greater added value to the regions. Aspepend is ready to act as a partner to the government to bridge industrial needs with the capabilities of local entrepreneurs,” Anggawira concluded.
