Aspac Texmaco champions in Medan

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Jakarta's Aspac Texmaco won the A Mild
Sister Cities Cup 2003 basketball tournament here, defeating
Satria Muda Aritama 67-56 in the final on Sunday evening.

The final was a reversal from the qualifying round, when
Satria Muda defeated Aspac Texmaco 62-57.

Satria Muda's failure to repeat its victory from the
qualifying round may have been due to the absence of Wahyu
Hidayat Jati, who is also a national team member.

Aspac Texmaco dominated the entire game. They sprinted out to
a 21-11 lead in the first quarter and held a 37-27 lead going
into halftime. Satria Muda cut the lead to 43-36 at the end of
the third quarter but could not overtake Aspac, which won by a
final score of 67-56.

Finishing the tournament in third place was Bima Sakti Malam,
which defeated host team Angsapura Sania 65-62 earlier on Sunday.

The teams taking part in the tournament were Angsapura Sania
Medan, Aspac Texmaco, Satria Muda Aritama, Bima Sakti Nikko
Steel, Medan Selection and Young Star Penang of Malaysia.--JP
