‘Asmoro’ Gang Targets Moving Trucks in Marunda, Stealing Tools
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The head of the Cilincing Police, AKP Bobi Subasri, said that the items targeted by thieves on trucks, or those known as the ‘Asmoro’ gang, on Jalan Akses Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, are truck tools.
According to him, the perpetrators were seen taking items suspected to be jacks from trucks that were in motion in a video circulating on social media.
“Based on the video, it appears to be a jack or similar tools,” said Bobi when confirmed on Thursday (February 26, 2026).
“The new price is quite high; I haven’t monitored the price of used ones,” he added.
Police confirmed that they are investigating the case and are currently looking into it further.
“The field team is currently investigating,” he said.
The term ‘Asmoro’ refers to thieves who target trucks or extort truck drivers.
According to Bobi, this is different from ‘bajing loncat’ or ‘begal’ criminals.
“This is theft; it happens because there is intent and opportunity. It’s different (from ‘bajilo’),” he explained.
Police are urging truck drivers to ensure that their cargo is secured and locked properly, especially when stopping or parking.
“Even if it’s just for a short time, park the vehicle in a safe and well-lit place, and if possible, in an area with CCTV or security,” he added.
