Asmindo holds national meeting
YOGYAKARTA: The Association of Indonesian Furniture Manufacturers (Asmindo) will hold its 2003 national meeting here on Saturday to elect a new chairman for the 2003-2008 term, and to formulate the association's program for the next five years.
Supriyanto, the deputy chairman of the meeting's organizing committee, told The Jakarta Post some 250 Asmindo members from its 17 provincial executive boards were expected to participate in the meeting, which will be opened by Minister of Industry Rini Soewandi.
"We will also discuss strategies on how to win a bigger share of the global market for furniture and handicrafts, especially in competing with China and Thailand in producing furniture. We are far behind those two countries in terms of human resources, techniques, designs and equipment," Supriyanto said. -- JP
