PT Asuransi Kredit Indonesia (Askrindo) has partnered with PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to implement the Free BUMN Mudik 2026 programme on the Balikpapan-Surabaya route.

Askrindo’s Director of Compliance and Risk Management, R Mahelan Prabantarikso, explained that programme participants will be transported using a passenger vessel operated by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni), specifically the KM Dorolonda, sailing from Balikpapan to Surabaya departing from Semayang Port in Balikpapan.

“The presence of a vessel on the Balikpapan-Surabaya route also provides an alternative maritime travel option for homebound travellers, allowing this route to benefit a wider community,” Mahelan stated in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday (16 March).

According to Mahelan, the collaboration with Pelni enables the company to reach homebound travellers from outside Java by utilising maritime transport fleets. Through this synergy, workers employed in the Kalimantan region can access alternative homebound travel routes to Java Island.

The Free BUMN Mudik 2026 programme itself represents inter-BUMN synergy in providing transportation services to the public during the Eid al-Fitr period.

The collaboration with Pelni is realised through provision of maritime transport, whilst cooperation with PLN involves support for organising the free mudik programme for the public.

Mahelan stated that Askrindo’s participation in the Free BUMN Mudik programme is part of the company’s commitment to providing direct benefits to the community, particularly in supporting homebound travel.

Through this collaboration, the Free BUMN Mudik programme is expected to provide wider benefits to the public and support smooth mudik flows during the Eid al-Fitr celebration period.

“Through this Free BUMN Mudik programme, Askrindo wishes to contribute to helping communities who wish to return to their hometowns with safer and more comfortable travel,” he said.

Pelni estimates that the peak mudik flow for Eid 2026 is expected to occur on 18 March 2026, or three days before Eid 2026, whilst the peak return flow is projected for 2 April 2026.
