The marine and fisheries sector is an important part of Bali’s economy.

PT Asuransi Kredit Indonesia (Askrindo) is strengthening protection for the economic activities of coastal communities through the handover of Bahari Micro Insurance worth Rp20 million to fishermen in the Sanur Beach area of Bali.

The assistance was handed over by Askrindo’s Denpasar Regional Office together with the Denpasar Branch Office as part of a series of activities to welcome the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

Askrindo Denpasar Branch Manager Quraandimas Punandito said in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday that the marine and fisheries sector plays an important role in Bali’s economic activity, especially for communities whose incomes depend on the maritime sector.

“The marine and fisheries sector is an important part of Bali’s economy. Through this Bahari Micro Insurance programme, we want to ensure that fishermen can work with peace of mind and are protected from socio-economic risks,” said Quraandimas.

Bahari Micro Insurance is intended to provide protection against the occupational risks faced by fishermen. This protection is expected to help maintain the economic resilience of fishermen and their families when facing risks in carrying out activities in the marine sector.

In addition to handing over the insurance, Askrindo held an environmental clean-up action by collecting organic and non-organic waste along the Sanur Beach shoreline. The activity was part of the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility programme.

The series of activities also included a healthy walk and other environmental activities involving Askrindo employees. The programme was directed at combining support for coastal communities with efforts to preserve the environment, which is one of the pillars of Bali’s economic and tourism activity.

Askrindo Denpasar Regional Office Head Anak Agung Gede Mayura added that the provision of protection and the environmental action were part of the company’s efforts to provide benefits to coastal communities.

“Through the Beach Clean-up Action and the handover of Bahari Micro Insurance, we hope to provide sustainable benefits for the coastal ecosystem and the welfare of fishermen in Sanur Beach,” said Mayura.
