US President Donald Trump stated that the military campaign against Iran has been completed ahead of schedule, though he stopped short of confirming when the war would end.

In an interview with CBS News on Monday (9 March) local time, reported by Reuters via detikNews on Tuesday (10 March 2026), Trump argued that the conflict against Iran was “very much complete”. The Middle Eastern conflict escalated after the US and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February 2026.

“I think this war is very much complete, almost entirely,” Trump said, speaking to CBS News in a telephone interview from his golf club in Doral, Florida.

“They (Iran) do not have a navy, no communications, they do not have an air force. Their missiles are few and far between. Their drones have been destroyed everywhere, including their drone manufacturing plant,” Trump claimed in the interview.

In the operation named ‘Operation Epic Fury’, the US military claimed to have struck more than 3,000 targets in Iran in the first week.

“If you look at it, they do not have anything left. Nothing is left in terms of their military,” Trump told CBS News correspondent Weijia Jiang in the telephone interview.

Trump continued, stating that the US was “far ahead” of initial estimates regarding the war’s duration. At the beginning of the operation, Trump outlined that the war would last four to five weeks.

“We are far ahead of schedule,” he said.

However, when asked whether he believed the war would end soon, Trump responded: “The end of war is only in my mind, not in anyone else’s mind.”

Trump was then asked about Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. Mojtaba is known to be the son of the previous leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died in a US-Israeli air strike.

Trump was reluctant to comment extensively. However, recent reports suggested that the 79-year-old president was unhappy with Mojtaba’s appointment as the new supreme leader.

“I have no message for him. None whatsoever,” Trump said, adding that he had someone else in mind to replace Khamenei, but he did not elaborate further.
