Asked About Revision of Police Law, Bob Hasan: No Demands Yet, We Focus on Asset Confiscation Bill

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the DPR RI Legislation Body (Baleg), Bob Hasan, emphasised that the current legislative focus of the DPR is directed towards accelerating the approval of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset).

Bob revealed that up to now, there have been no pressing demands regarding changes to regulations for other law enforcement institutions such as the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Prosecutor’s Office.

“Our issue is more about asset confiscation that needs to be approved immediately. There are no demands (for revisions) to the Police Law, Prosecutor’s Law, or Judiciary Law,” said Bob Hasan during an audience with students from the University of Indonesia (UI) in the Baleg Meeting Room, Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

“Yesterday, through Baleg’s harmonisation, we have completed the legal structure of the LPSK as a representation of the Indonesian public to ensure protection of human rights. We request that the LPSK become a state institution,” said the member of Commission III of the DPR.

His side assured that strengthening the institution aims to support the creation of restorative justice in Indonesia.

The five priority bills to be completed in this session include the Aceh Governance Bill, One Indonesia Data Bill, Strategic Commodities Bill, Textiles Bill, and Indigenous Peoples Bill.

Meanwhile, the Asset Confiscation Bill is still in the discussion process in Commission III of the DPR RI.
