'Asiaweek' defiant despite KL ban
HONG KONG (AFP): Hong Kong-based Asiaweek magazine will not bow to pressure to rein in its reports on Malaysia, despite Kuala Lumpur's ban on its sale to government departments, editor Ann M. Morrison said yesterday.
Malaysia's powerful Home Ministry has ordered all ministries and state government departments to stop subscribing to Asiaweek, following recent alleged malicious articles against the country's leadership.
Morrison said there was no need to change the magazine's editorial policy "just because some members of the government are upset by something we write.
"We will continue to cover Malaysia and do the Malaysian stories as we see them," she added.
