Asian Games Bronze Medalist to Compete at Pattimura International Big Fight 2026
2018 Asian Games bronze medallist Sunan Agung Amoragam will compete in the amateur and professional boxing championship (Ampro) titled Pattimura International Big Fight 2026. In this bout, Sunan will face Thai boxer Natha Phong Nuchap Hum in an international non-title Super Bantamweight (55.3kg) contest. The fight will take place at TVRI Central Studio in Jakarta on Friday, 29 May 2026. The event aims to invigorate the national boxing scene and commemorate the 209th anniversary of National Hero Pattimura Day. Four amateur and four professional bouts are scheduled, including Sunan’s match against Natha Phong. ‘I am ready to face Natha Phong and have studied his fighting style. Hopefully, I can overcome him,’ said Sunan, from HS Ciseeng Boxing Camp, after the weigh-in at TVRI Central Studio on Thursday, 28 May 2026. ‘We haven’t held professional boxing matches involving foreign fighters for a long time,’ said Nikolas. ‘This Pattimura International Big Fight is the biggest event of the year. I hope Sunan and Noldi can defeat the Thai boxer,’ he added. Nikolas also confirmed the championship would be elevated in future editions, featuring bouts for at least PABA and OPBF titles. ‘We are confident this event will deliver high technical quality and entertain spectators,’ he said. Meanwhile, Promoter Mentor G. Borlak hopes the inaugural event will inspire Indonesian boxers to keep developing and stay motivated. He urged the government to pay more attention to the national boxing ecosystem, from grassroots training to support for national and international competitions. ‘Indonesia’s boxing industry has great potential but needs more support to thrive again,’ Borlak said.
