Asia to hold nuclear meeting
BANGKOK (Reuters): Ministers from nine Asian countries will
meet in Bangkok in November to discuss closer co-operation on
atomic energy, Thailand said on Tuesday.
The government said in a statement ministers and officials
from Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia,
the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam would meet from November
10-15.
It said the meeting would adopt a strategic program for co-
operation, discuss safety issues and future nuclear energy
options, and hold talks with representatives of the International
Atomic Energy Industry.
"Thailand hopes the meeting will enhance co-operation with
other countries," the government said. "We look forward to
working closer with Japan and the People's Republic of China."
