Asia-Pacific High School Students Convene at APYLC 2026 to Address Global Challenges
Asia-Pacific Young Leaders Convention (APYLC) 2026 will once again be held at Binus School Serpong on 20-24 April 2026. This international event serves as a platform for high school students to collaborate, broaden their global perspectives, and provide solutions to current world dynamics.
Entering its ninth year, APYLC 2026 will bring together delegates from BINUS SCHOOL Education (Indonesia), Kaichi High School (Japan), Nan Chiau High School (Singapore), and Changshu Lunhua Senior High School (China). Under the theme “Root for Change: Feeding Minds, Healing Communities, Empowering Futures”, the delegates will discuss global issues based on three key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
Sherrierose Garcia Gonzales, Director of BINUS SCHOOL Education, stated that this year’s theme reflects the importance of a holistic approach to addressing global challenges. “Through this platform, we aim to encourage the younger generation to understand the complexities of the current global landscape and develop solutions that are not only innovative but also sustainable,” she said.
She also hopes that participants can use this opportunity not only to learn but also to contribute through real ideas and actions.
APYLC 2026 was also warmly welcomed by Irene Umar, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, who will attend as the main speaker at the opening ceremony on Monday (20/4/2026). She emphasised the importance of collaboration and empathy in addressing global challenges.
“APYLC is not just a forum, but a starting point for the younger generation to begin taking roles in shaping the future they wish to realise. Addressing global challenges cannot be done alone, but requires collaboration and a deeper understanding of problems within communities, so that we can create meaningful impacts,” she said.
