Asia-Africa summit to go ahead
JAKARTA: Despite the change in national leadership, Indonesia will continue preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Asia- Africa Conference in Bandung next year.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said on Thursday preparations remained on schedule and were expected to be finished sometime before the event.
Hassan reported on the ongoing preparations to President Megawati Soekarnoputri on Thursday.
More than 100 heads of state are expected to attend the April summit, which will serve as a remembrance of a meeting of Asian and African leaders 50 years ago. The 1955 summit was the brainchild of the Non-Aligned Movement.--JP
