Ashraff Abu, Husband of Fadia Arafiq, a DPR Member, Has Rp42.2 Billion in Assets
The suspended regent of Pekalongan, Fadia Arafiq, who was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), has a husband who is a member of the House of Representatives named Mukhtaruddin Ashraff Abu. Ashraff Abu comes from the same party as his wife, the Golkar Party. In the corruption case involving procurement, the KPK disclosed that Ashraff Abu received money derived from the corruption.
Ashraff’s largest asset is land and buildings valued at Rp 35.4 billion. He is recorded as owning four plots of land and buildings spread across Semarang, Pekalongan, and Malaysia. He also owns two vehicles: BMW iX1 and BMW X5. In addition, he has cash and cash equivalents of Rp 1.4 billion and other assets of Rp 2.3 billion. Therefore, Ashraff Abu’s total wealth amounts to Rp 42.2 billion.
The KPK disclosed that money flowed to Fadia’s family amounting to Rp 19 billion, some of which went to Ashraff. The KPK suspects the funds originated from projects won by PT RNB (Raja Nusantara Berjaya) in Pekalongan Regency. Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, said that from 2023 to 2026 there were incoming transactions to PT RNB amounting to Rp 46 billion sourced from contracts between PT RNB and regional devices in Pekalongan. Only Rp 22 billion of the Rp 46 billion was realised to pay outsourcing staff; the remainder was distributed to family members including Ashraff.
Asep itemised the distribution as follows:
Fadia Arafiq, the regent, Rp 5.5 billion;
Mukhtaruddin Ashraff Abu (husband of the regent) Rp 1.1 billion;
Rul Bayatun, as Director of PT RNB Rp 2.3 billion;
Muhammad Sabiq Ashraff (the regent’s son) Rp 4.6 billion;
Mehnaz (the regent’s daughter) Rp 2.5 billion;
Also, a cash withdrawal of Rp 3 billion.
