Ash-Sholihah Islamic Boarding School Claims Former Administrator's Actions Were Adultery, Not Rape

Ash-Sholihah Jonggrangan Islamic Boarding School in Sleman has stated that the actions committed by a former administrator, identified by the initials NH (also known as GN), against a former female student do not constitute rape. The school management maintains that NH’s actions towards the victim were acts of adultery.

“The narrative suggests that a rape occurred. Regarding rape, the school has no knowledge, as that is the individual action of the perpetrator, not the school,” said Heri Purtonwanto, legal counsel for Ash-Sholihah Jonggrangan Islamic Boarding School, during a press conference on Friday (11/9/2026).

Heri noted that the daughter of the school’s caretaker, who is also the wife of the perpetrator, is also a victim. He ensured that the school is prepared to support the police investigation into this case.

“The school will not obstruct, cover up, or hide any evidence. I must clarify this here because there is an external narrative suggesting the school is protecting him. The school is not protecting the perpetrator,” stated Heri.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Khairul Anwar, the son of the school’s caretaker, stated that the case came to light in July 2026. It began with suspicions raised by the sister-in-law of NH’s wife, which led to questioning the victim.

“In July 2026, a third party admitted to having an illicit relationship with the perpetrator. This was discovered when the two sisters-in-law of the perpetrator’s wife questioned the third party, who replied that they had been with NH twice,” said Ahmad.

Following this admission, the school conducted an investigation. The perpetrator, NH, eventually confessed to his actions.

“On 6 July, it was decided to dismiss the perpetrator from his position as a school administrator because it was proven that he committed adultery,” Ahmad asserted.

Regarding the element of coercion, which is a component of rape, Ahmad declined to comment on whether NH used force against the victim.

“Regarding the statement from the victim’s lawyer claiming there was an admission from the perpetrator regarding the use of force, the school has no comment, as that falls within the realm of the perpetrator’s individual actions and not the school’s,” Ahmad added.

For context, the rape allegations have been reported to the Sleman Police. The alleged acts occurred twice, resulting in the victim becoming pregnant.

“We have received information from several witnesses that he was indeed an administrator there. As an administrator, teacher, or cleric, there is no dispute regarding this, as it is clearly stated on the official website and confirmed by various parties, including the boarding school,” said the victim’s lawyer, Gusti Rian Saputra, when met at the Sleman Police Headquarters on Thursday (10/9).

Currently, the victim is reported to be pregnant. Ultrasound results have been submitted as evidence.

“The victim’s testimony is clear. Under the Sexual Violence Crimes Law (TPKS), the victim’s testimony is sufficient to serve as evidence for further investigation or prosecution. Furthermore, the ultrasound results are clear clinical evidence that can be held accountable,” said Gusti.
